Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. NetEffects is recruiting for a direct-hire role with an unnamed employer. The Software Engineer will build Go services, gradually convert Java services, maintain existing Java applications, and support a migration from GCP to Cloud Run.

Responsibilities

• The team is building new services in Go and gradually converting some Java services while continuing to maintain existing Java applications
• The team will be migrating from GCP to Cloud Run

Skills

• Must be available for W2 roles without current or future sponsorship
• Targeting approximately 3–5 years of experience; this is not a senior role
• Strong engineering judgment is important: knowing when to ask for help, pausing to document before coding, maintaining code quality, and calling out gaps or risks
• Java/Spring Boot with Golang experience
• Microservices architecture and experience scaling applications
• Git/source control
• Familiarity with AI coding assistants such as Gemini, Antigravity, or Claude
• Basic SQL skills
• Cloud development experience; GCP is preferred , but experience with another cloud provider is acceptable
• Docker and GitLab CI/CD are preferred
• Kubernetes, Terraform, and Terraform Cloud are pluses , but not required
