Open role
[Remote] Product Manager - AWS Enterprise Imaging
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. AGFA HealthCare is hiring a Global Product Manager to define and deliver product strategy for deployment and lifecycle capabilities across its Enterprise Imaging software. The role leads roadmap and backlog governance, deployment automation, and cross-functional alignment across cloud, virtualized, and Kubernetes environments.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for platform deployment, installation, configuration, upgrade, rollback, scaling, and recovery capabilities
- Prioritise investment based on customer value, operational risk, deployment effort, supportability, security, cost, and strategic alignment
- Establish standard product patterns that reduce site-specific configurations and support consistent delivery across cloud, virtualized, and Kubernetes-based environments
- Define clear product boundaries between AGFA-owned deployment capabilities, platform infrastructure, third-party software, and customer-managed responsibilities
- Maintain a sequenced roadmap that distinguishes minimum viable capability, technical enablers, and validated future expansion
- Drive the transition from in-place binary installation to immutable, image-based virtual machine replacement using prebuilt Amazon Machine Images and equivalent cloud image patterns
- Define product requirements for isolating persistent state from compute lifecycle so that virtual machines can be replaced, resized, scaled, redeployed, or rolled back without reinstalling or losing required state
- Shape Kubernetes deployment capabilities using containers, Helm charts, standard deployment profiles, Git-managed configuration, and GitOps reconciliation through tools such as Flux or Argo CD
- Ensure that Terraform, Ansible, image-building pipelines, cloud-init, configuration stores, secrets management, and CI/CD workflows operate as a coherent product lifecycle rather than disconnected engineering tools
- Define requirements for automated bootstrap, idempotent installation, controlled overrides, version management, health validation, smoke testing, observability registration, and documented recovery
- Support horizontal scaling and resilient deployment patterns, including auto-scaling groups, rolling replacement, high-availability topologies, and controlled zero- or minimal-downtime upgrade approaches
- Convert strategic outcomes and operational pain points into well-structured epics, use cases, acceptance criteria, non-functional requirements, impact analysis, and definition-of-done expectations
- Maintain an actionable backlog that balances customer-facing outcomes with platform enablers, automation, technical debt, security, observability, and supportability
- Work with engineering teams to identify contracts and dependencies between AMIs, Terraform modules, Ansible automation, cloud-init payloads, secrets, configuration schemas, Helm charts, Git repositories, and runtime environments
- Clarify ownership across teams and ensure that cross-team dependencies are assigned, planned, and visible before release commitments are made
- Lead scope decisions and trade-off discussions when requirements affect release timing, architecture, operational cost, backward compatibility, or platform support boundaries
- Ensure release guidance covers supported models, prerequisites, sizing, upgrade, rollback, known limits, and support responsibilities
- Collaborate with R&D, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Architecture, Security, Service, Support, Quality, and Product Leadership to align product direction and execution
- Facilitate technical discovery and decision-making without replacing the accountability of architects, engineering leads, or DevOps implementers
- Represent deployment and lifecycle requirements during product planning, programme increment planning, architecture reviews, release readiness reviews, and operational risk discussions
- Translate complex infrastructure and automation topics into clear business outcomes, customer impact, executive decisions, and delivery priorities
- Gather feedback from service engineers, deployment teams, support organizations, cloud operations, customers, and partners to identify recurring installation and lifecycle challenges
- Use deployment data and field experience to reduce manual steps, configuration variation, upgrade risk, recovery time, and total cost of ownership
- Support strategic customer opportunities, solution reviews, and RFP or RFI responses where deployment automation, cloud operating models, scalability, resilience, security, or lifecycle management are material
- Identify and manage product risks related to configuration drift, manual intervention, secrets handling, unsupported customization, failed upgrades, rollback, persistent state, and cross-team ownership gaps
- Ensure security, vulnerability management, patching, auditability, and regulated healthcare requirements are incorporated into deployment and lifecycle capabilities
- Establish measurable feedback loops using installation results, upgrade outcomes, support incidents, observability data, deployment lead time, and automation adoption
- Champion standardization and continuous improvement that increase reliability, deployment speed, operational efficiency, and customer confidence
- Act as the product authority for platform deployment and lifecycle outcomes across the Enterprise Imaging portfolio
- Promote product thinking within platform and DevOps initiatives by focusing on reusable capability, supported outcomes, measurable value, and customer impact
- Drive adoption of standard deployment patterns and governance while constructively challenging unnecessary complexity and unsupported one-off solutions
Skills
- Demonstrated product management experience with enterprise software, cloud platforms, infrastructure products, deployment tooling, or technical platform services
- Experience owning a roadmap and backlog for products that involve multiple engineering teams and significant architectural or operational dependencies
- Strong understanding of modern software delivery, release management, DevOps, infrastructure automation, and immutable infrastructure principles
- Experience working with AWS or another major public cloud provider, including compute, scaling, storage, identity, configuration, and secrets-management services
- Experience with Kubernetes-based platforms and the product implications of containers, Helm, GitOps, high availability, scaling, upgrades, and observability
- Proven ability to influence technical teams and senior stakeholders without relying on direct authority
- Kubernetes, containers, Helm charts, deployment profiles, operators, Git, GitOps, Flux, reconciliation, drift detection, and environment promotion
- Terraform and infrastructure-as-code concepts, including modules, state, dependencies, environments, and repeatable provisioning
- Ansible and configuration-management concepts, including idempotency, inventory, playbooks, role-based automation, and post-provision configuration
- Immutable infrastructure and AWS lifecycle concepts, including AMIs, image pipelines, EC2 Image Builder or Packer, EC2, Auto Scaling Groups, storage, IAM, Parameter Store, Secrets Manager, cloud-init, persistent-state separation, validation, replacement, and rollback
- CI/CD, artifact repositories, release orchestration, semantic versioning, automated testing, observability, health checks, smoke tests, diagnostics, backup and restore, and disaster recovery
- Enterprise security, vulnerability and patch management, high availability, resiliency, capacity planning, cost optimization, and cloud financial management
- Enterprise Imaging and healthcare interoperability concepts sufficient to understand the operational context of the platform
