Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Microsoft is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Azure Virtual Machine Scale Sets team. The role focuses on designing and delivering scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure, implementing product features, and improving the reliability and performance of Azure’s compute platform.

Responsibilities

• Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature
• Supports identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product feature with oversight
• Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable. Writes and learns to create code that is extensible and maintainable
• Begins to leverage a variety of feedback channels to incorporate insights into future designs or solution fixes
• Assists and learns about breaking down work items into tasks and provides estimation
• Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems, and recommends actions to restore system/product/service by following the playbook
• Reviews current developments and proactively seeks new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale

Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role
• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND + years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience
• Experience with distributed systems and storage
• Problem-solving and coding skills
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills
