TALENT Software Services is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer specializing in Java and Mainframe technologies to work remotely for a client. The role focuses on designing, developing, and delivering scalable customer-facing applications, maintaining high-quality code, and collaborating within an Agile software development lifecycle. The position also requires expertise in content management and mainframe technologies including IBM FileNet, IBM CMOD, JCL, COBOL, and CICS.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop engineering specifications for software applications and systems
• Write, maintain, and review code in accordance with established coding standards and best practices
• Evaluate, recommend, and implement technical solutions that support required product features while ensuring functionality, scalability, and performance
• Collaborate within an Agile team, actively participating in Scrum ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, and delivering assigned work throughout the software development lifecycle
• Communicate risks, issues, and blockers promptly to the Scrum Master and project stakeholders
• Track progress against project schedules, provide regular status updates, and escalate technical challenges as needed
• Apply software engineering best practices across the full development lifecycle, including coding standards, unit testing, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
• Demonstrate experience designing and delivering large-scale, customer-facing applications
• Exhibit a strong sense of ownership, urgency, accountability, and results-driven execution

• IBM CMOD
• Mainframe – JCL/COBOL/CICS and understanding of mainframe storage
• This would be someone who possesses a senior-level skillset in the above skills (10+years)
• Java, SpringBoot, Webservices/REST API
• Angular
• Oracle/DB2 databases
• Kafka
• GIT
• IBM ImagePlus mainframe experience would be helpful in addition to CMOD
