[Remote] Software Engineer

Remote · Netherlands Full-time

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Trava Health is hiring its first in-house software engineer to build the data foundation behind its telehealth business. The role will develop data pipelines, models, dashboards, and attribution systems, while laying groundwork for future patient, provider, administrative, and pharmacy applications.

Responsibilities

  • Build our marketing data foundation. Stand up a data warehouse and the pipelines that pull in ad platform spend and performance, site and funnel events, orders, subscriptions, and patient lifecycle data. Model it so the numbers are consistent no matter who asks the question
  • Ship scorecards and dashboards people actually use. Build reporting for leadership and the marketing team covering funnel conversion, typical customer journeys, marketing attribution, channel efficiency, acquisition cost, retention, and lifetime value. Define each metric clearly and make sure everyone trusts it
  • Own existing reporting and attribution systems. Maintain, debug, and improve the tracking and attribution tools we already run. Find where data is wrong or missing and fix it at the source
  • Bring technical work in house. Take over projects currently handled by outside partners, document how our systems work, and reduce our dependence on third parties for core capabilities
  • Lay the groundwork for Trava's platform. Design data models, integrations, and services that will support future applications across patient, provider, admin, and pharmacy experiences, along with the backend processing that connects them
  • Protect patient data. Build with privacy and security in mind from day one, follow HIPAA requirements, and treat sensitive health information with care in every system you touch
  • Use modern tools to move fast. Use AI coding tools to multiply your output, while keeping the judgment to review, test, and own everything you ship

Skills

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software or data engineering, including building and running production data systems
  • Open-minded and solutions-oriented. You listen first, consider other approaches, and focus on getting to an answer that works. When you hit a wall, you come back with options
  • Detail oriented. You care whether the numbers are right. You check your work, reconcile against the source, and notice when something looks off
  • You take initiative. You don't need to be told what to do for 40 hours a week. You find the most important problem, make a plan, and get it done, keeping the right people informed along the way
  • Accountable and full of integrity. You own your work and your mistakes. You do what you say you will, and you handle sensitive patient data with the seriousness it deserves
  • Strong SQL and Python. You can write clean, maintainable code and complex queries without reaching for help
  • Hands-on experience setting up a data warehouse and pipelines (for example BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or Postgres, with tools like dbt, Airflow, or Fivetran)
  • Experience building dashboards in a BI tool such as Looker, Metabase, Tableau, or similar, and defining metrics that hold up under scrutiny
  • Comfort working with APIs and third-party integrations, and a habit of thinking carefully about data modeling before writing code
  • The ability to explain technical tradeoffs in plain language to non-technical teammates
  • Experience with marketing data: ad platform APIs (Meta, Google, TikTok), web analytics, server-side event tracking, and multi-touch attribution
  • Experience in healthcare, telehealth, or another regulated industry, including working within HIPAA
  • Experience as an early or solo engineer at a startup, where you set up systems from scratch
  • Full-stack experience (for example TypeScript, React, Node.js) and comfort with cloud infrastructure on AWS or GCP
  • Experience with subscription or e-commerce data such as orders, refills, churn, and cohorts
