The role oversees the product lifecycle and collaborates with editorial, marketing, technology, and sales teams to deliver products aligned with business goals and audience needs.

Responsibilities

• The Vice President of Product Management is a full-time remote role responsible for shaping and executing the product vision and strategy for California Business Journal’s digital and editorial offerings
• This role oversees the full product lifecycle, from ideation and market research through requirements definition, design, development, launch, and continuous optimization
• The Vice President will collaborate closely with editorial, marketing, technology, and sales teams to define product roadmaps, prioritize initiatives, and ensure alignment with business goals and audience needs
• Day-to-day responsibilities include leading cross-functional product initiatives, analyzing user and performance data, refining user experience, managing timelines and resources, and identifying opportunities for new products, features, and revenue streams
• The role also includes mentoring product team members, establishing best practices, and driving innovation in how business stories and paid editorial services are delivered to readers and clients

• Strong product management expertise, including experience defining product roadmaps, managing full product lifecycles, and delivering successful digital or media products
• Proficiency in product strategy and analytical skills, with the ability to use data, research, and market insights to guide decisions and measure product performance
• Demonstrated team leadership and project management skills, including leading cross-functional teams, managing complex initiatives, and ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align diverse teams around a clear vision and priorities
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Technology, or a related field
• Equivalent experience in product leadership
• Experience in media, publishing, or digital content platforms
• Familiarity with subscription, paid editorial, or advertising-driven business models
• Strong organizational skills, self-direction, and comfort with virtual collaboration tools
• An advanced degree
