Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Design & Integration (DDSI) group. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines that power data lakes, data warehouses, and analytics platforms for brighthush’s creative partners. You will collaborate closely with studio teams, product managers, and data scientists to translate business requirements into scalable, high‑performance data solutions.

Key highlights:

  • Direct impact on the data infrastructure that supports millions of viewers and creators worldwide.
  • Opportunity to work with industry‑leading technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, Apache Wind, and Looker.
  • Clear career path from Senior Engineer to Lead Data Architect or Data Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Build ETL/ELT Pipelines: Architect end‑to‑end data workflows that ingest, transform, and load data from a variety of sources into Snowflake, Databricks, and other cloud data platforms.

  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Partner with studio and product teams to gather requirements, validate data sets, and deliver actionable insights. Translate business needs into technical specifications.
  • Automation & Orchestration: Use tools such as Apache Airflow, GitLab CI/CD, and Docker to automate pipeline deployment, testing, and monitoring.
  • Performance Tuning & Optimization: Continuously monitor pipeline performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to reduce latency and cost.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, schemas, and best practices. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge bases.
  • Governance & Security: Implement data governance policies, access controls, and encryption standards to protect sensitive information.
  • Innovation & Tool Evaluation: Stay abreast of emerging data technologies and evaluate their applicability to brighthush’s data ecosystem.

  • Experience with version control (GitLab, GitHub) and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large, complex data sets and optimize queries for performance and cost.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, with a track record of delivering high‑quality, production‑ready solutions on schedule.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
