Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CTS International is recruiting Mechanical Designers to support an unnamed leading transformer manufacturer. The role focuses on creating production-ready CAD models and manufacturing drawings for transformer and heavy electromechanical equipment, while collaborating with the client’s mechanical design team.
Responsibilities
- Convert 3D CAD models into complete, dimensioned manufacturing drawing packages
- Create accurate 3D models from existing 2D engineering drawings
- Design sheet-metal and welded assemblies , including:
- Apply GD&T and tolerance stack-up principles to ensure drawings are ready for fabrication
- Develop detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings
- Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) alongside models and drawing packages
- Work within established client engineering standards and drawing conventions
- Collaborate remotely with the client's in-house mechanical design team
- Produce designs and drawings that can move efficiently from engineering to the shop floor
Skills
- Demonstrated mechanical design experience with power transformers, distribution transformers, or comparable heavy electromechanical equipment
- Strong proficiency with Solid Edge
- Advanced experience with another parametric CAD platform such as: • SolidWorks • Autodesk Inventor • Creo with the ability to quickly become productive in Solid Edge
- Strong sheet-metal and weldment design experience
- Experience developing flat patterns through final fabrication drawings
- Strong understanding of GD&T and manufacturing tolerances
- Experience producing engineering drawings that have successfully moved into manufacturing
- Ability to work independently in a distributed remote engineering environment
- IEEE, ANSI, ASTM, or CSA standards related to transformer design
- Transformer thermal and cooling design
