Reddit is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Web Platform team, which develops and operates the Shreddit platform powering reddit.com. The role leads platform architecture, performance, infrastructure resiliency, and developer tooling initiatives, while delivering cross-service projects and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Build with impact: Design and evolve the Shreddit web platform’s architecture, performance, and developer tooling that powers reddit.com for hundreds of millions of users across the world
• Full-Lifecycle Development: Lead end‑to‑end delivery of complex, cross‑service initiatives in areas like asset delivery, html processing, observability and reliability for core web experiences
• Quality & Velocity: Move fast while maintaining high quality standards through thorough code reviews, detailed design doc evaluations, and constructive feedback on product specs and UI mocks
• Mentorship & Engineering Standards: Help establish developer workflows, champion best practices, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers to elevate technical excellence across the team

• Strong proficiency in modern web stacks, including JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js, with a proven track record of translating complex problems into performant, scalable and safe  responsive, production-grade applications
• Experience tracing, profiling and tuning performance of network calls, rendering, or data access paths, monitoring and reporting their operational health
• Experience implementing AI workflows and tooling to support and accelerate high quality web development, optimization and debugging
• Demonstrated experience designing, building, and maintaining robust APIs using protocols such as REST, GraphQL, gRPC, HTTP, or Thrift basics
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
